The Thunder of Great Power
The Thunder of Great Power
But the thunder of his power who can understand? — Job 26:14
There are things in this life that we will never fully comprehend. One of them is God. And Job still knows (in chapter 26 nonetheless) that understanding God is out of his reach. He knows that just the sound of his power is more than his mind can understand.
On this side of heaven, it is impossible to know all that we want to know about God. And while this makes us all uncomfortable, God always lets a man know just enough. Enough that we can come to a conclusion about him by faith. And yet, he discloses his power to us in amounts that both terrify and humble us about who he is and what he can do. And in this, he daily allows us to see a little more of him that increases our faith. Faith that will carry us through any struggle this life will offer.
Job was a man who struggled more than most of us ever will. He demonstrates that God is still mightier than any challenge that may come our way. And the question I believe Job poses to all men is this:
Do you want to see great power? If you do, then you need to trust in a great God through great struggle!
So I ask you, do you really want to know the power of an Almighty God?
ASK THIS: Do you really want to know God's power?
DO THIS: Get ready.
PRAY THIS: God, dare I ask you to show me your power today?
PLAY THIS: Our Great God.
