God Desires My Worship
God Desires My Worship
2 Samuel 6:13-14 And so it was, when those bearing the ark of the Lord had gone six paces, that he sacrificed oxen and fatted sheep. Then David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod. NKJV
Devotional: I will never forget where I was when I had a personal revelation of worship. I was a young teenager, and it was during a daytime service at youth camp. The daytime services were held in the same building where we played basketball at night after church. During the altar service I realized that I was standing very near where the basketball goal would normally be when we weren’t having service. I started thinking about how many times I had jumped for the basketball right in that spot. Then I wondered if I had given that same kind of effort during worship. Something welled up within me. I started jumping. I jumped and jumped and then jumped some more. I jumped until I physically wasn’t able to jump anymore. I had a personal revelation in that moment that worship was more important than anything else, and I wanted to be more passionate about worshipping God than I was about anything else in my life. David worshiped like that. He didn’t care who was watching or what they thought. He just worshiped because God is worthy. God desires my worship.
Prayer: God, I know You don’t need my worship, but I am so thankful that You desire it. Help me to be a worshiper no matter what is going on in my life, good or bad. I pledge to You that I will worship even when I don’t feel like it and even if I’m the only one who is worshiping. I give You all the praise, all the honor, and all the glory. You are worthy!
