Exodus 13:21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night. NKJV
Devotional: One of my favorite things about being apostolic is the mighty move of God we have in our churches on Sunday. We can actually see God move in our services: people get healed, delivered, and saved. And we leave saying, “God really moved today. Church was on fire!” We count on the move of God to leave a smoldering pile behind it so we can prove He was there. However, by the time the middle of the week rolls around I feel alone or empty and start looking for another divine fire. Pressures of life to do well in school, work, and elsewhere begin to close in and it gets rough. In Exodus 13:21-22, we see God moving not only as a pillar of fire but also as a cloud of smoke. You see, sometimes I’ve found myself looking for the Sunday fire when all along God is moving before me even if I don’t recognize Him. God moves - just in different forms.
Prayer: Dear God, thank You for being with me today. I know that I don’t always recognize Your presence with me. Sometimes I look for the roaring fire and overlook You in the quiet cloud of smoke. Forgive me for overlooking Your love and kindness toward me. I will follow You today because I know that whatever form You take, when I follow You I will be exactly where I need to be. I love You. I need You. Thank You for moving with me today.
