God Calls the Unqualified
God Calls the Unqualified
Exodus 3:11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” NKJV
Devotional: Dictionary.com defines qualifications as “a quality or accomplishment that fits a person for some function, office, or the like.” In our verse today, Moses didn’t think he was qualified to do what God wanted. There were a lot of reasons he was unqualified: He was born as a Hebrew but he grew up in an Egyptian palace and received an Egyptian education. He killed an Egyptian, and he fled because he was afraid. He lived in exile as a shepherd in a wild and rugged environment. Moses didn’t wear fancy clothes. He wasn’t wealthy and he wasn’t pedigreed. Moses didn’t seem to have anything that qualified him to be called by God. But that’s the awesome thing about God. He doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called. When you live by His commandments, trust His timing, and are obedient to His will, you will be able to hear His voice and step into the calling that He has prepared for you.
Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for the many great things You have done for me. You have blessed me more than I could say. I pray that You help me to honor You with everything I do. I know You have a plan for my life. Help me to follow that plan and to not become distracted by what the world says I need in order to be qualified. Use me in any way You want, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
